SATV, KAthmandu, April 16: Chaitey Dashain is being celebrated all around Nepal today gathering in the Shakti peethas and worshipping Durga Bhawani, which is the reflection of the main Dashain celebrated on Asoj and Kartik of Bikram Sambat calendar. Chaitey Dashain holds the significance as Navaratri among all Hindus.
This festival symbolises the victory of good over evil, divine powers over demonic forces and truth over falsehood.
On this religious instance of Chaitey Dashain,an special fair is conducted in Baglung Kalika since traditional times. The aim of the fair is to promote art and culture while maintaining tradition. The Guthi Management Committee has been organizing and conducting the fair lately. The fair is being organized to promote tourism, preserve culture, promote local products, and continue the tradition.
Likewise, on this day of Chaitey dashain, many places in Kathmandu like: Bhadrakali, Naxal Bhagwati, Shobha Bhagwati, Gueshwori, Maitidevi and Dakshinkali are crowded with many devotees and worshippers. Palanchowk Bhgwati in Kavrepalanchwok, manakamana in Gorkha, Bageshwori in Banke shakteepith are filled with devotees today.
In this occasion of Chaitey Dashain, the government of Gandaki has provided governmental offices,educational institutions and public institutions with one day holiday all over the Gandaki province.
Myths tailors that the main Dashain used to fall in Chaitra which suffers frequent droughts and dry seasons of the year. So concerning the reasons, Dashain was shifted to Asoj Kartik during the seasonal harvest of grains that could provide enough grains for the blissful and joyful celebration of ten days long Dahsain. So the Dashain in Chaitra is observed as Chaitra Navaratri or Chaitey Dashain among Hindus.
