Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has introduced a scholarship program for students who wish to pursue higher education in a field related to its work.
MPL and the Ministry of Higher Education signed an agreement on Tuesday to implement the 'MPL Corporate Scholarship'. The agreement was signed by MPL's CEO Shahid Ali, and Higher Education Minister Dr. Ibrahim Hassan.
The MPL scholarship will be awarded annually to one top 10 students in the A/L examination. MPL will sponsor all study-related expenses.
All administrative matters related to the scholarship will be arranged by the Ministry of Higher Education. These include the annual announcement of MPL scholarships, selection of scholarship recipients, and awarding.
At the ceremony, CEO Shahid said that MPL is committed to providing opportunities to the youth and building educated youth. The newly introduced scholarship is an important step forward, he said.
In addition to the scholarship on Tuesday, MPL will be opening six more scholarship opportunities before the end of this year.
