Nepathya, Nepal's famous folk-rock band, rocked Butwal with it's mesmerizing performance 'Music for Humanity' on Saturday.

After a grand success in the far-western region, the band made a stop-over performance in Butwal, eighth concert of a month-long tour across ten cities in the country.

Upon the arrival in Butwal, the 70-members entourage was warmly welcomed by Mayor Khel Raj Pandey and Deputy-Mayor Sabitri Devi Aryal of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City.

"It would be an understatement to judge this band merely as an entertainer." Mayor Pandey said adding that Nepathya is our Nepali identity.

The band kicked-off the much awaited concert with one of their ever-green hit songs 'Aagannai Vari Heu Nai Jhare' at the house-full Ramnagar Khelmaidan, in a chilly evening. This is the band's seventh performance in Butwal.

As the band played the song flashes of band's 33 years musical journey was shown in the big screen.

The band also entertained the crowd with their other smashing hit numbers including 'Veda ko uun jasto', 'khanna ma lampate surati', 'chari maryo sisayako golile', Resham', 'Yo Zindagani, 'Naina taala, among others.

In the midst of the concert, lead singer and social activist Amrit Gurung thanked the crowd, who have resettled in here from Mountain, Hills and Terai region, for transforming Butwal into an educational and industrial hub.

The band's latest tour carries a social message of 'Music for Humanity' and aims to support Manavsewa Ashram, a social organization which provides shelter to the homeless.

At the backend of the concert, band entertained the crowd with their patriotic songs including 'Gaun Gaun bata Utha', 'Rato Ra Chandara Surya', among others.

As usual, Amrit was supported by Dhruba Lama on drums, Suraj Thapa on keyboards, Subin Shakya on bass, Niroj Gurung on guitar and Shanti Rayamajhi on madals.

After the Butwal concert, the band left for Pokhara to perform at Pardasani Kendra on December 27 before concluding in Kathmandu on December 31.
