Police checking the public vehicle's smoke emitting rate in Babarmahal,Kathmandu
Kathmandu. During the pollution checking conducted on Thursday in Babarmahal, Kathmandu, 27 vehicles emitting smoke beyond the standard were taken into action. Rajendra Prasad Bhatt, spokesperson of Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office and Senior Superintendent of Police, informed that 27 vehicles including 14 rented minibuses, 8 pickup vans, 3 rented microbuses and 2 cars were emitting more smoke than the set standard.
A team deployed jointly from the Department of Environment Babarmahal and Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office checked 53 vehicles in Babarmahal and 27 vehicles emitting smoke beyond the standard were taken into action. After the repair of the vehicle, the documents seized by the traffic police will be returned on payment of the prescribed fine.
Spokesperson and Senior Superintendent of Police Bhatt requested all drivers to check the condition of vehicles and drive only vehicles that are in good condition as driving vehicles that emit smoke more than the set standard will increase not only air pollution causing serious problems to human health but also the risk of accidents.
