  President can dissolve the House when the Legislature completes two and a half years of its terms.Sri Lanka can go for a General Election anytime now as the present Parliament has completed two and a half years of its term as of midnight on Monday.

As per the 20th Amendment of the constitution, the President is able to dissolve the House when the legislature completes two and a half years of its term.  The President is given the power to dissolve the House under article 70 of the constitution. This has been made possible by the 20th Amendment to the constitution.
