By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 14: Saroj Khanal’s directorial debut ‘Bagan,’ is being released across the nation on Friday. The premiere of the film was held on Wednesday. Journalists, artistes, well-wishers and politicians enjoyed the premiere.
Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, after watching the movie, shared a personal recollection about her daughter’s remark when she was young, saying, “Go to the market to buy father.”
Rana, who herself is a single mother, emphasised that children who have faced similar challenges can learn valuable lessons from ‘Bagan.’
Actress and director Deepa Shree Niraula responded to the film, describing it as a revolutionary masterpiece. She acknowledged the immense effort and passion required to tackle such sensitive subject matter. Niraula praised Saroj Khanal’s directorial skills and commended actress Manandhar for her outstanding performance.
The film has already announced its intention to offer free screenings for single mothers throughout the country.
To avail of this opportunity, single mothers will need to present their government-issued identity cards at the cinema hall. The movie features Khanal, Manandhar, Karki, Akash Shrestha, Nir Shah, Bashundhara Bhushal, and Mithila Sharma, among others.
Based on the story of Swapnil Nirav, the film is produced by Suresh Wagle under the banner of nepaliwebsite.com while Binod Manandhar is its executive producer.
The movie has Gaurishankar Dhuju as the Director of Photography (DOP) with cinematography by Narayan GC and Utsab Dahal. Sandesh Shah has edited the film.
