The 2023 G20 New Delhi summit, the eighteenth meeting of G20 (Group of Twenty) was successfully held in Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-Convention Centre, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on 9–10 September 2023. It was the first G20 summit held in India.
The summit was organised under the theme of “One Earth, One Family, One Future,” including important issues such as food security, climate and energy, development, health and digitalization were discussed.
Leading up to the two-day summit of the world’s wealthiest economies that concluded on Sunday, India projected itself as the champion of the developing nations amid divisions over issues ranging from the Ukraine war to climate change and global food and energy security.
G20 India has put forth six agenda priorities for the G20 dialogue in 2023:
1. Green Development, Climate Finance & Life
2. Accelerated, Inclusive & Resilient Growth
3. Accelerating progress on SDGs
4. Technological Transformation & Digital Public Infrastructure
5. Multilateral Institutions for the 21st century
6. Women-led development
Mr. Biden held a bilateral meeting with Mr Modi while he came to attend the G20 summit. The US president left India on Sunday before the summit ended to travel to Vietnam.
Regarding Russia’s aggression agaisnt Ukraine, many G20 members, including Japan, emphasized the importance of observing the United Nations Charter and achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
Acc. to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan in the session of "One Family", participants discussed inclusive growth, the SDGs, health and other issues. G20 members confirmed the importance of reducing poverty and inequality, accelerating efforts toward the achivement of SDGs, and preparing for pamdemic.
In this session of "One Future", the leaders discussed the multilateral reforms, dramatic progress in digital technology that entails an issue of governance with countermeasures to challenges against information manipulation and other issues.
In the restrictions imposed in Delhi, all schools, offices, workplaces, marketplaces, restaurants and non-food shops were ordered to close for three days. Meanwhile, traffic advisories were issued in regards with the movement on the roads, e-commerce deliveries were restricted to ordering medicines and groceries under New Delhi Municipal Council (NMDC) jurisdiction and people were recommended to stay at home.

As the G20 New Delhi Summit was chaired by the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, he formally handed over the G20 presidency to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the President of Brazil. India will continue to hold the position until 30 November 2023.
