Kathmandu, March 15- Film is the best way to spread multiculturalism of mankind. With the very concept, famous Chinese Director Xie Fei who was also screenwriter, producer, film processor and film critic was invited by Kathmandu University of Confucius Institute on a seminar about Chinese Arts and Movies on Friday.

Mr. Xie who had arrived in Nepal to participate in the Nepal International Film Festival also graced the event of KUSUM as a Chief guest. The event was organized with the objective of spreading cinematic arts and enriching the cultural diversity among Chinese and Nepalese students and participants.

The seminar presented about aspiring take on Chinese arts and movies from famous Chinese film director Mr. Xie, a representative of the fourth generation of Chinese film directors. He conducted a discussion and exchange activity entitled "Film Art and Multiculturalism" with Nepalese students learning Chinese.

Imparting the unique techniques in film production, Mr. Xie added that art film's aesthetic value, film as an audiovisual and integrated art which needs to be created from ontology, language and technique. With the art films spiritual values of drawing human nature's goodness, truth and beauty or fake ugly and evil Mr. Xie Fie has been serving the art industry supporting to produce low budget good quality art films.

Mr.Xie Fei entered Beijing Film Industry in 1960 and has worked as a teacher of directing department since 1965. As a important member of Chinese 4th generation directors, his works has won numerous domestic and international awards. A golden Bear and a silver bear in Berlin is one of them.

Mr. Fei spent half century serving as a teacher in BFA. He also won CILECT Teaching award in 2015. CILECT is the International Association of Film and Television Schools.

Subsequently, the program also scheduled a projection of Chinese classic movie, “Yeshi Dolma” directed by Mr. Xie to the audiences which beautifully presented a, love to death, from an adult to old, the journey of a Chinese woman who suffered life circumstances to deal with her life meaningfully. It had underlying message on people’s change of life towards modernity with the dramatic changes in Tibet. The movie largely imparted religious, historical and cultural contexts of the China to the audiences.

On the latter half of the program, Director Xie Fei opened the exchange with insightful students and participants in a cordial way. He first introduced his film creation background and experience, and shared his understanding and views on film art as the students inquisitively asked about opportunities and possibilities on Chinese films.
