After a five-day break for Eid and Pohela Boishakh, offices, courts, banks and stock markets across Bangladesh resumed operations on Monday
While some have already returned, others are making their way back to Dhaka after celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the major Muslim festivals, on Thursday.
With public holidays for Eid falling on April 10, 11 and 12, followed by a weekly holiday on April 13 and another holiday for Pohela Boishakh on April 14, people enjoyed a five-day break from April 10 to 14.
Meanwhile, many government and private sector employees, who have travelled home for Eid, have taken additional leave, delaying the return to full office activities.
As observed in previous years, attendance remains poor on the first working day after the Eid holidays.
