Share market goes bullish, index up by 75 points

SATV Mar. 3, Kathmandu: The benchmark of the stock market, NEPSE, has posted a double-digit growth on Sunday, the first transaction day of the week.

The stock market continued its upward trend on Sunday, with the NEPSE index rising by 75.24 points. With the significant growth of share market, the index reached 2,890.28 points on Sunday.

This marks the ninth consecutive day of market growth. The share market has been recording positive growth since February 16, 2025. 

The sensitive index which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies increased by 14.47 points to close at 484.30 points. 

Along with the increase in the NEPSE index, turnovers also increased on Sunday.

A total of 29,166,656 shares worth Rs. 14.25 billion of 302 companies were bought and sold in 139,596 transactions today.

A total of 22,240,171 shares worth Rs. 11.23 billion had been sold on Thursday last week.

The trading volume on this day is the highest in the last six months. The previous highest trading volume on the NEPSE was on August 28, 2024. On that day, shares worth Rs. 18.46 billion were bought and sold in the market.

The sub-indices of all groups, except mutual fund, increased on Sunday. 

Sub-index of the life insurance group saw the highest growth of 601.64 points followed by the non-life insurance and manufacturing and processing group whose indices increased by 442.89 points and 385.04 points respectively.

Similarly, sub-index of hotels and tourism group increased by 281.67 points, development bank by 222.88 points, finance by 119.96 points and hydropower by 75.83.

Likewise, the sub-index of microfinance group went up by 1.68 points, trading by 45.87 points, others by 37.37 points, banking by 36.29 points and investment group by 3.48 points.

However, sub-index of mutual fund group declined by 0.25 points.

The share price of 232 companies increased while the share price of 58 companies decreased in today’s transaction.

Share prices of three companies, including Himalayan Distillery, Guardian Micro Life Insurance and Nepal Life Insurance Company increased by 10 per cent each.

Similarly, share prices of Sindhu Bikas Bank and Dordi Khola Jal Bidyut Company increased by by 9.99 per cent each while that of Nyadi Hydropower by 9.93 per cent and Pokhara Finance by 9.21 per cent.

However, share price of Samaj Laghubittya Bittiya Sanstha decreased by 10 per cent, Upper Hewakhola Hydropower Company by 5.47 per cent and Kumari Sabal Yojana by 3.42 per cent.
