Alice Ho, the youngest daughter of Macao casino mogul Ho Hung-sun, kicked off her first day of school at China's top-tier educational institution Tsinghua University on Monday. As the 22-year-old young lady embarked on a journey to pursue her postgraduate studies in Beijing, she received warm wishes from both of her family and netizens. 

Ho was seen in one of the photos which the university posted on its official Sina Weibo account wishing all students a good beginning at Tsinghua as the new semester started. 

Alice Ho's older brother Mario Ho forwarded the post on Sina Weibo to congratulate his sister, adding that their whole family was very proud of her. 

"Congratulations to Alice Ho, the first left girl in photo nine. She worked hard and consistent and that got her to be one of Tsinghua University's new postgraduates! The whole family is feeling so very proud of you! Being able to study in Tsinghua is such a precious opportunity," Mario Ho wrote in the post. 

Netizens also congratulated Alice Ho on Sina Weibo, many of them noting that she has had a very diverse and high profile education, adding that her Tsinghua journey would surely benefit the Hong Kong-born girl who has completed her bachelor's degrees in both Management and Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US. 

"Both excellent institutions have their own values, but I think the Tsinghua experience can deepen her understanding about Chinese culture," posted a netizen on Sina Weibo. 

"There is a tendency for more and more Chinese elites seeking international working and studying experience not to just want to go aboard but to get a taste of Western culture - that was a thing 10 or 20 years ago. Nowadays, talents are seeking to expand their world experiences by learning about the differences in cultures and who they really are, their own cultural and social dynamics. That's why they are defined as true international talents," Ma Xiaoguang, a Chinese education and sociological researcher, told the Global Times on Thursday.

Ho is going to start her new master program with Schwarzman Scholars, one of the university's renowned international postgraduate award programs. According to the brief introduction of the program on its website, it is designed for candidates who have the potential to be future world leaders to continue to advance global leadership.
