Annapurna collects Rs. 13 million tourism revenue

Myagdi (Beni), Aug. 26: The Annapurna Rural Municipality of Myagdi has successfully collected Rs. 13 million in the first month of this fiscal year from contracts awarded tourist destinations.

According to Chief Administrative Officer Amrit Subedi, the rural municipality earned the amount by contracting out the Bhurung Tatopani Kunda, Paudwar Tatopani Kunda and Poon Hill.

Subedi informed that the local level had contracted Poon Hill, located in its Ward No. 6, to the company Maila Dai and Restaurant for Rs. 6,311,000, Bhurung Tatopani Kunda, located near the Kaligandaki Corridor, to Ujala Construction Pvt. Ltd. for Rs. 5,500,900 and Paudwar Tatopani Kunda, located in Ward No. 5, to local Prem Tulachan for Rs. 2,019,500. 

The contracts have been awarded for one year and the contractors have already deposited their respective amounts in the rural municipality’s bank account. Since they deposited the money in advance, the contractors received a discount of 10 per cent, as per the local level.

Similarly, the rural municipality has decided to collect business tax and land rent from the hotels in operation at Khopra. The local level has decided to charge Rs. 30,000 as business tax and Rs. 36,000 as land rent. The amount will be charged on a yearly basis.

Bharat Kumar Pun, chairman of the rural municipality, said that they planned to increase the local government’s income and make the area prosperous.
