Kathmandu. Dilliraj Acharya, the chairman of the Commission of Inquiry on the Control of Illegal Import (Trafficking) of Gold-2080, has said that the commission has the right to arrest those involved in the gold smuggling case if they do not appear to summon them to testify.
Speaking at a press conference held at Singha Darbar on Thursday, Acharya said that they have equal rights to that of commission. We create internal procedures. We also have the right to arrest people who do not appear when they are called to testify during the investigation of gold smuggling', he said.
Acharya said that the report of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will be used as a source material while investigating the gold smuggling case. Similarly, he said that the orders and verdicts of the judicial and quasi-judicial courts will be studied, a report will be prepared and handed over to the government at the appointed time. The assistance of the police, public prosecutors and revenue experts will be taken according to necessity during the investigation, he said.
