The government has decided to provide with petrol and diesel allowances adding upon the already existing dress and festival allowances of civil service employees.
Ministry of Finance has issued “Guidelines for Providing Cash for Fuel 2080” in order to facilitate government employees with this service. The employees who get the facility of government vehicles is going to be given with the allowance for fuel used by them. Government will give a fixated amount for a certain period of time.
It is mentioned in the third point of the guidelines that 125 liters per month will be given to gazetted special category (secretary) employees and 100 liters per month to first category (co-secretary) employees. They will also get an amount equal to five liters of Mobil every three months.
Earlier, fuel was being used on the basis of coupons provided by the concerned office. The petrol pump used to collect a lump sum from the government by showing the coupon.
With the implementation of the new guidelines, the coupon system has been removed. Now, along with salary and other allowances, fuel allowance will also be directly credited to the employee's account. There is no need to submit a bill to receive such amount.
