Janakpur lives the piece of Ramayana period with the grand celebration of Bibaha Panchami every year in Ram Janaki temple.
It is believed that Bibaha Panchami is an auspicious date for everyone to get married. Ram is the eldest son of King Dasharatha of Ayodhya. Sita is an example of an ideal wife, an ideal mother, an ideal brother-in-law, an ideal daughter-in-law, an ideal queen, and an ideal woman in general.
Myth describes that Sita was able to easily lift the Shiva’s bow that King Janak had which no one could lift. King Janak knowing this held a grand swyambar(marriage ceremony) for his daughter to find her a man as brave as her who could lift up the Shivadhanus(Shiva’s bow). Among all the failed attempt of various men Prince Ram of Ayodhya stood out to be successful and be a liable man to Princess Sita.
