The Jagannath University Teachers’ Association (JNUTA) will observe half-day work abstention for three days beginning from today demanding the cancellation of the new universal pension scheme issued by the finance ministry.

The other demands of the teachers are inclusion of university teachers in super grade, and the introduction of a separate pay scale for teachers.

The association announced the program through a circular on Monday.

According to the notification, a half-day strike will be observed from 8:30am to 1pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as no effective measure has been taken following their earlier programs.

The teachers will also observe a sit-in program in front of Bhasha Shahid Rafiq Bhaban, from 12 noon to 1pm for during the same time.

Earlier on June 4, the teachers of Dhaka University (DU) and Jagannath University (JnU) observed a half-day work abstention, demanding the cancellation of the new universal pension scheme issued by the finance ministry, terming it discriminatory.
