SATV 18 April, Kathmandu: Today, The Confucius Institute at Tribhuwan University (TU) held celebrations marking the UN Chinese Language Day under the theme “ Chinese Language: A gift Across Time and Space.
The program held with the optimism and hopes was attended by dignitaries like Xie Yu, Counselor of Embassy of China in Nepal, Professor Dr. Khadga K.C., Vice- chancellor of Tribhuwan University (TU), Balaram Duwal, Nepal Side Director of the Confucius Institute at TU, Zhang Xingnian, China Side Director of the Confucius Institute at TU.
Welcoming the attendees Balaram Duwal, Nepal side Director of the Confucius Institute at Tribhuwan University highlighted Chinese language as the bridge not only connecting the countries but also the civilization. The Chinese language with the wisdom of Confucius and the poetry of Li Bai connects people from ancient streets of Kathmandu to the bustling city of Beijing.
As more number of People are interested in joining Chinese language classes in Confucius Institute at TU, The connectivity seems to rise in near future between the two friendly nations. The Volunteer teachers with their dedication and willingness to transfer their knowledge are considered as the backbone on Chinese language being popular throughout Nepal.
Vice-Chancellor of TU, Khadga K.C. stated Chinese language having a predominant soft power of China and becoming a global phenomenon before the rise of China as global economic power. He expressed his happiness on being the decessors of great Araniko and Bhrikuti who has significant existence in the Chinese history. He also spoke about the establishment of Confucious Institute at TU and said it was one of the most prominent and effective activity done during President Xi Jinping’s Nepal visit back in 2019 A.D.
The Cultural performances lighted up the event showcasing the cultural diversity of Nepal and China as well. The students of School Of Management demonstrated the beautiful fan dance while little students from LRI School danced very well in the Nepalese cultural song. The scholars from PN Campus Pokhara recited a poem in Chinese language. The games were played, calligraphy were demonstrated during the event. These activities were the proof of increasing influence of Chinese language and culture across Nepal.
Meanwhile, In the event organized by Confucius Institute at TU the representative from Qinghai Minzu University shared easy ways of getting familiar with Chinese language. In his video message he suggested the students to read the great Li Bai’s poetry to understand the real emotion of the words and language itself.
Closing the ceremony, Zhang Xingnian, China Side Director of CITU highlighted the importance of learning Chinese language glorifying the influence of the China in the global economy. He further told,” Confucius Institute at TU is committed to spread the availability of Chinese language classes and teachers across the nation."
The influence and effectiveness of Chinese language in Nepal is rapid. The language is expected to generate a lot of employment opportunity not only in Nepal but across the globe. The effort made by Confucius Institute at TU in establishing Chinese language in Nepal is commendable and worth praising, said one of the student of Confucius Institute at TU.
As Nepal and China co-celebrate the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relation, The growth of Chinese language in Nepal may help strengthen this long run relationship between the two friendly nations.
