Time:2021-04-04 09:25

Life is about making time for what she likes to do. Asma does this by climbing another mountain step by step, and now she is unstoppable.Mountain climbing is a goal and a dream. Tanny saw her dream for herself when she was 14 years old. and Soon she will embark on the road to Mount Everest and is happy to be a role model for people to go there and realize their dream。

Asma has been on an Everest expedition in Nepal. She is the Director of Marketing Communications of the Qatar Olympic Committee. She considers herself an inner athlete and attaches great importance to discipline.Asma has reached the North Pole and has climbed Mount Aconcagua in South America and Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. For the people around her, these feats are not surprising. As they know, she is a loyal woman who has always achieved what she planned to do.

In the interview, Asma was honest about mountaineering, her passion for telling her own story to change the world and achieving her goals.

When the reporter asked her how to start this journey? She said that since I was a child, I have enjoyed climbing. I have always had the idea of outdoor adventure. I have three brothers who are very adventurous. Together with them, I have participated in many adventurous activities.

But it should be pointed out that when I started my journey at the age of 14, I wrote down a list of goals I wanted to achieve in life. I am full of hopes and dreams for what I want to do. At the beginning of 2014, I followed the list of goals and saw the North Pole, the night sky, and mountain climbing that I wanted to see. After getting there, I decided to do all the things I wanted to do.

After that, I joined the Kilimanjaro climbing team in 2014 and became the first Qatari women to do so.

So far, this challenging project has become an amazing experience for me. I learned a lot in the mountains and I hope to keep going.

When the reporter asked what your motivation was after climbing a mountain, she replied sonorously: motivation is the journey itself.

In every mountain, in every expedition, I meet new people and challenges, and overcome challenges that are considered impossible, which makes me more inspired to achieve my goals.

Living in nature and enjoying the things around me has inspired me a lot.

I have always reminded myself: when you are alone in the mountains, you have to have fun, challenge the difficulties and obstacles, and taste the joy of success!I remember when I was at the Everest Base Camp, I was fascinated by the beautiful scenery of the scattered peaks and the white snow, and had to stop from time to time to enjoy the beauty of nature. The experience and encounters I encountered during this trip People expressed their gratitude, which prompted me to re-experience the joy of the new mountain.

When the reporter asked, what have you learned so far? She unabashedly replied that for climbers, it is determination. I think the things that can and cannot be done are always in my mind, depending on how strong your mind is. The other is humility. When I see the mountains so close, I often realize how small I am, but at the same time I think about the huge impact on the world after climbing, so we must always remain humble.

I think the mountains also teach you to be grateful. We take comfort in life, the pillows on the bed and the roof are taken for granted. When you are in the mountains, when you encounter uncomfortable situations, you realize that you must be grateful for every moment and everything you have.

In addition to these important learning knowledge, I think the mountain itself reminds me, if I was determined, you can do it.

The reporter asked that mountain climbing requires a lot of training. What is your preparation? She said that for me, the theme of training is to balance life and ensure that I can achieve my career goals. What I do is master time, rest, diet and training! Let me have enough strength to increase my strength.

I need to set a lot of time. Life is always a matter of time, right? I also think that if we keep saying that we don't have time to do something, we will never be able to do it. Therefore, I always set a schedule that I want to stick to. However, when things change, I also have to be tolerant, because in the mountainous areas, sometimes things don’t get what I want. Life is the same; we need to find solutions to problems.

Why is the feat of conquering Mount Everest important to you?
For me, this path is to challenge the limit and break through the inherent obstacles. But at the same time, this journey is as important as motivating people to go out and achieve their goals.
When I shared my experience in the mountains through social media, many people said: You know we never thought it was possible. what should I do? How do you train? There are many different possibilities in this world, and it is important for me to be able to share this idea.

What do you usually think of when you are in the mountains?

In the mountains, I often discuss with myself. It’s always about “Can I do this? I’m strong enough to get there? But sometimes I also think of my family and my home. But it’s always a conversation about why I’m here, I’m trying Remind yourself about my inspiration on the mountain.
You said in an interview that you want to demonstrate the empowerment of Qatari women and inspire a new generation of women in the region to realize greater dreams. What do you think of the work related to the empowerment of women?

People always have this misunderstanding about women: climbing mountains or doing challenging things is impossible for us. But for me as a Qatari woman and an Arab woman, by climbing Mount Everest, what I hope to do is not only inspire women, but also inspire young people to pursue their dreams and realize their ideals. I want to share my story; I want to share my experience. I hope that by doing this, I can not only inspire women to climb mountains, but also inspire them to do what they decide.
How did you persuade your family to participate in this journey?

I have always been an independent woman and have always been able to achieve the goals I set for myself. My parents have always supported my dream. But, of course, like any parent, they are not sure that my goal of climbing is not because I am a daughter, but because I am a woman. As parents, they will feel fear for their children. They do have their worries. In addition, climbing and adventure are not easy tasks. You challenge yourself and put yourself in a dangerous situation.

I remember when I first told my father that I was going to climb Kilimanjaro in the next few months, he questioned why I did it. Is it dangerous? He asked that it was 2014 and most people didn't understand the concept of mountaineering, no matter whether it was safe or not. For me, when I had a conversation with them, what was needed to climb these mountains, the conversation was not easy. But my parents have always supported me, it's was an inspiring journey.

Nelson Mandela once said: "Sports has the power to change lives." You also expressed this in your 2018 speech. But in a country like ours, sports has not received enough attention. Why do you think it is important to encourage and attract more women to participate in sports?
Sports is a powerful tool, and it can indeed change lives. When women participate in sports, they can show the world "you know we can do this." There is a way to realize our dream. The more people we do, the more people will see that this is a feasible thing to do. Not only in sports, but in every field, you will always need stories that inspire others.
In addition, sports is a very large industry, and many people can participate in sports in different ways and abilities. But the opportunities offered by sports may also depend on the government's strategy. In Qatar, sports plays a very important role in the country. It shaped this country. For me to engage in sports, become a mountaineer and explore adventures, I also hope to clarify the importance of sports and provide people with opportunities to learn about the possibilities of sports.
