Kathmadnu, August 14: South Asia International Book Fair 2023 is going to be held in Bhrikutimandap, Nepal for the first time ever. It has been five years since Nepal has hosted any international book fair. The event will take place from November 21 to 25, 2023 for five days which has 100 days to go. The fair carries a slogan "Explore the Charm of Asian Culture and Literature".
The fair would have in-total 180 booths among which would be 100 national booths, 35 publishers of China and remaining 45 of other countries. Many countries like Egypt and America has shown interest to participate in the book fair.
According to the press conference held on 14th August 2023 the fair's rent expense is 3,50,000 per day and the total expense is assumed to be of around one crore by the end of the fair.
The fair has been organized by Federation of Nepal Books and Stationary Business together in cooperation with Current Media and Research Center Pvt. Ltd. The fair has been supported by China International Book Trading Corporation and Current Publication Pvt. Ltd.
The event will illustrate a diverse range of books, literature and academic research from across South Asia shedding light on unique narratives, indigenous cultures and multifaceted socio-political landscape of Nepal's regions. It aims in bringing general reader, publisher and writer in one place collecting all them together for which it has planned to feature panel discussions, author meet-and-greets, workshops and book signing sessions, providing an enriching experience for all attendees.
With an objective of co-operation with each other, the target group includes the kinds from the kindergarten to the masters and above all kinds of readers. The team has targeted to bring together all kinds of students from different schools and educational institution of Kathmandu valley and make them explore the national to international level of books in Bhrikutimandap.
