Confucius Institute at Tribhuwan University celebrated its first anniversary in Kathmandu on 16th August, Wednesday. This day successfully marks to be the completion of one year of co-operation between Chinese government and one of the biggest educational institution of Nepal, Tribhuwan University.
Though CITU, the second Confucius Institute in Nepal was initiated in 2019, it was inaugurated on 2022 due to the impact of COVID-19 pandemic.
Wang Xin, counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, Xin Lugao and Bal Mukunda Regmi Chinese and Nepalese president of Confucius Institute of TU respectively, attended the event.
The establishment of Confucius Institute of Tribhuwan University is not only a new milestone in the friendship between China and Nepal but also a new platform for the dissemination of Chinese culture to Nepalese students. Since the establishment of the college, efforts have been made to provide Nepalese students with a quality environment for learning Chinese and understanding Chinese culture. Through one year's effort, the college has made remarkable achievements in Chinese education, cultural exchange and so on.
Wang Xin, the counsellor of Chinese Embassy warmly congratulated the successful one year co-operation. In his speech, he said that the strong co-operation between Tribhuwan University, East China University of Technology, Qinghai University for Nationalities reflects the important progress made by China and Nepal in people-to-people exchanges, especially in Chinese education and also provides a better platform for the two countries to further strengthen cultural exchanges and co-operation.
Nepalese students from Confucius Academy presented a wonderful cultural performance. They performed Chinese dance, music, poetry recitation and other programs to not only make the time entertaining but also share educational development through Conficious. The stage was full of exotic customs, Chinese and foreign teachers and students sharing the blending and resonance of culture.
Connecting from the video link presidents of Chinese Universities said that in the future, the college will continue to promote Chinese education, provide more Nepalese students with the opportunity to learn Chinese and help them move towards a broader international stage. At the same time, they will continue to shoulder the mission and become a bridge for cultural exchanges between China and Nepal so that, the Chinese and Nepalese people will be more closely linked together to create a better future.
Studying the Chinese language can enhance the understanding of Chinese history and culture, which will help the people of the two countries to know each other better, promote the discovery of cultural and civilizational strength and nourish humanitarian values. In addition to becoming a foundation for building a community with a common future, the establishment of the Confucius Institute will contribute to the construction and development of active promoters of Nepal-China cultural exchange and mutual learning, and will also be a significant contribution to the "Belt and Road Initiative" mission.
