Shamim Haider, secretary general of the Zaker Party, has said that his party wants to observe the election situation till the end even though it has completed all the formalities of taking part in the upcoming election.
“If there is influence of black money in elections, influence of muscle power, if the biased position of the state apparatus continues and the judicial structure is used as a political tool, then there will be no reality of free and fair elections,” he said.
Despite boycotting two elections, the Zaker Party has participated in all other parliamentary elections. But the party could never win a single seat.
However, the policymakers of the party hope for positive things in this election.
The Zaker Party has been preparing for eight months to nominate candidates separately and prepare polling constituencies for each seat.
However, the election situation will be monitored till the end, said the party’s leaders.
The party also said that it will refrain from being in the election if any unusual situation arises.
Regarding the 12th parliamentary elections, Shamim Haider said: "We don't want the influence of muscle power or black money; we want honest people, good people, patriots."
The party nominated candidates for 218 constituencies but the nominations of 10 candidates were suspended in the first stage of scrutiny.
Mentioning that efforts are being made to fix the situation, he said: "We are trying to resolve the matter. But there is no defaulter among us. Nomination papers were not cancelled for any such reason.”
Founded by Hashmatullah Faridpuri, widely known as Atroshi Pir, the Zaker Party emerged on the scene as Zaker Sangathan in 1987.
The party was officially launched in 1989 under its current name.
The current chairman of the party is Mustafa Amir Faisal.
The party, with the rose as its symbol, participated in the previous five elections except for boycotting the sixth in 1996 and the tenth in 2014. No candidate of the party could win a single seat in any election. In fact, the number of votes cast for the party has decreased consistently. But this time, the party hopes to make a new comeback in the upcoming polls.
