For the last few years, the number of green tea consumers has risen in Bangladesh as it has been easy to find green tea in the local shops of the country. The slightly bitter, light brown-coloured warm beverage has become quite a common thing to enjoy. The flavour, colour and bitterness of green tea depending on the method of brewing the tea. Both health-conscious and tea lovers enjoy bitter-tasted green tea with or without sugar.

There was a time when green tea was considered a Japanese beverage and it was never on the shopping list of middle-class people. However, the scenario changed as several companies provide authentic green tea at a reasonable price nowadays. Finlay, Kazi and Kazi, Halda Valley, Ispahani, Tetley, and Lipton are some of the pocket-friendly brands. Customers can find both loose green tea and tea bags under the packaging of these brands. Benefits of green tea

Be it for custom or just a choice to drink green tea regularly, this beverage comes with a lot of benefits. First of all, green tea is full of plant-based antioxidant compounds like polyphenols. Polyphenols contained in teas are classified as catechins. There are six types of primary catechin compounds in green tea- catechin, gallocatechin, epicatechin, epigallocatechin, epicatechin gallate (Ecg), and epigallocatechin gallate (also known as EGCg). Antioxidants help to neutralize the free radicals and reduce the damage of cells.

Drinking green tea can help to improve cognitive function. Green tea contains alkaloids including caffeine, theobromine, and theophylline. These alkaloids provide green tea's stimulant effects. l-theanine, an amino acid compound found in green tea, has a calming effect on the nervous system. 

Green tea can also increase metabolism which helps to burn fat. Studies have shown that when green tea is paired with exercise and a good diet, it can help in the weight loss journey.

As green tea is full of antioxidants, it can reduce the chances of having stroke and heart disease.

Green tea also lowers the risk of different types of cancer and obesity.

Many studies have already shown that drinking milk tea with sugar is harmful to health as sugar consumption can increase the chance of Type-2 diabetes and promote acidity in the stomach. So switching to green tea is always a better option.
