SATV, Beijing, June 04: The Embassy of Nepal in Beijing, in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board and Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN), organized a tourism promotion event under the theme "Tourism Promotion and Sales Mission 2024" in Beijing yesterday. The purpose of the event was to build network among tour operators and hoteliers of Nepal and China.
In the event, H.E. Mr. Bishnu Pukar Shrestha, Ambassador of Nepal to the People's Republic of China delivered a keynote speech. H.E. Mr. Shrestha highlighted major tourism attactions of Nepal and extended invitation to the Chinese communities to visit Nepal. Ambassdor Shrestha also underscored the significance of the cooperation and collaboration in the tourism industry for the economic growth of Nepal, particularly when the country is set to graduate to a developing nation in 2026.
On the occasion, Mr. Binayak Shah, President of Hotel Association, shed light on the status of the hotel, hospitality, and tourism industry of Nepal. Likewise, Mr. Prabin Bahadur Pandey, First Vice-President of Hotel Association of Nepal further informed about the potentials of hotel sector in Nepal. Mr. Santosh Panta, Director of Nepal Tourism Board made a presentation titled "Nepal Destination" focusing on Nepal's tourism potentials and urged to establish connections with travel and hotel professionals from Nepal and China. From Chinese side, Mr. Li Changlin, Assistant Secretary-General, World Tourism Alliance of China stressed on the need for collaborative efforts in the collective tourism promotion of Nepal and China.
During the event, the Embassy felicitated 15 Chinese mountaineers who summitted Mt. Everest from Nepal side celebrating the Mt. Everest Day. The program also honoured Shangdong Kaisa International Travel Pvt. Ltd. for operating regular weekly charter flight from Qingdao to Kathmandu and Beijing Shengtu Sports Co. Ltd. for organizing first charter flight after Covid-19 pandemic, carrying 720 trekkers from China to Nepal.
Similarly, the event handed over the letter of appreciation to Mr. Li Shengtao who successfully held solo paragliding test flight over Mt. Everest as well as Ms. Xu Zhouyuan for scaling Mt. Everest at the age of sixteen. The program also featured video of blind Chinese mountaineer Mr. Zhang Hong, Nepali cultural dances and B2B interaction.
The event was attended by more than 200 participants including representatives from World Tourism Alliance, China Association in Travel services, Nepali and Chinese hoteliers, tour operators as well as media representatives. (Source: Embassy of Nepal in China)
