Oct.20: Dashain, the biggest festival in Nepal, is traditionally seen as an opportune moment to release local films.

Continuing this trend, this year’s Dashain sees the release of Bipin Karki's  ‘Bhasme Don’ on Phulpati ( the seventh day of Dashain).

The film is set to release on Saturday, breaking the usual tradition of releasing films on Fridays.

‘Bhasme Don’ is the much-awaited sequel to the 2016 hit 

‘Pashupati Prasad’. 

While the original film starred Khagendra Lamichhane as the titular character who tragically died in the series, this sequel will centre around the fan-favourite character, Bhasme Don, portrayed by Bipin Karki. Producer and writer Khagendra Lamichhane is optimistic about the success of his project. He believes that Dashain, the festival where families come together, is an opportune time for many 

to enjoy the films. Along with Bipin, artistes including Saughat Malla, Swastima Khadka, Barsha Siwakoti, Rabindra Singh Baniya and Prasash Ghimire have done the film.

But the cinematic delights this Dashain don't stop with Nepali cinema. The South Indian film industry offers ‘Leo’, an action-crime drama starring Vijay Thalapathy, which was released on Thursday.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and boasting a runtime of 165 minutes, the film also features actors like Sanjay Dutt, Anurag Kashyap and Trisha Krishnan in lead roles.

Meanwhile, Bollywood film ‘Ganapath’ is releasing on Friday. This dystopian action drama stars big names like Tiger Shroff, Amitabh Bachchan and Kriti Sanon.

Helmed and penned by Vikas Bahl, the film is a collaboration with producers Jackky Bhagnani, Vashu Bhagnani, and Deepshikha Deshmukh.

Additionally, Nepali film ‘Pardeshi 2’, which was released last week, is still surviving in theatres. Directed by Narayan Rayamajhi, the film features artists such as Prakash Saput, Dilip Rayamajhi, Prashant Tamang, Keki Adhikari, Barsha Siwakoti, Nir Shah, Rama Thapaliya, Sabin Bastola and Devendra Bablu.
