Mahanagar Yatayat Launches a dozen electric bus service

SATV 17 July, Kathmandu: Mahanagar Yatayat Private Limited has brought 12 electric buses into operation in the Kathmandu Valley. 

Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal launched the electric bus service.

Santosh Khatiwada, chairman of the company said that Mahanagar Yatayat Private Limited started operating services in the Kathmandu Valley with 39 diesel buses at a time on the ring road in the year 2015, and now a total of 89 buses are operating on various routes in the capital, including the ring road.

Inaugurating the electric bus, Minister Dahal expressed the view that Nepal has entered the era of electric vehicles with the development of the road network.

Stating that there has been great progress in road infrastructure development in recent times, he said that such an organized and modern passenger service network should be expanded so that people can benefit from it.

Ministry Secretary Keshav Kumar Sharma said that the use of electric vehicles is increasing rapidly in Nepal and that an electric vehicle factory needs to be built in Nepal.

Executive Chairman of Mahanagar Yatayat Khatiwada said that Mahanagar Yatayat is preparing to issue primary shares soon.
