Chinese NGO distributes relief packages to flood victims in Nepal.

Following the monsoon-induced flooding disaster in Nepal's Sindhupalchowk district, China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA) has immediately kicked off the the disaster relief operation in the district.

It extended relief assistance at different wards at Helambu Village in Sindhupalchowk district on Sunday.

At least 7 people have died, 3 foreigners and 17 people are still missing in Helambu region due to the flood in last few days. Hundreds of houses have been damaged while around 1900 people are affected in Helambu and Melamchi area after the river swollen up.

China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation handed over groceries including rice, pulses, cooking oil, noodles, biscuits, water bottle, masks, sanitizers and other essentials. 

Following the relief program, CFPA has also planned to distribute Tent and Zinc to make temporary shelter for the people who lost their houses.

Ward Chairperson Bhakti Bhadur Khadka and Rudra Pd. Dulal from Ward No. 10 and Ward No. 11 respectively, commended the efforts and thanked the Chinese organization for helping them in the difficult circumstance.

They shared, "Thanks to CFPA Nepal office which has always stood with Nepal at challenging times, from earthquake/pandemic to this flood."

In response, CFPA Nepal Office Country Director Zou Zhiqiang stated, “China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation is extremely concerned about the plight of people in need of assistance and protection as a result of landslide and river blockage in Sindhupalchok. It is urgent that aid reaches people. Food, shelter, safe water, education of children are critical needs at the site”. 

Besides, during the second wave of pandemic, CFPA has supported with the medical equipment to more than 10 communities in areas heavily affected by COVID-19. 

CFPA, a leading humanitarian organization in china, has been conducting its philanthropic activities in Nepal since 2015. The organization is the first active Chinese INGO operating in Nepal for six years.

Till date, CFPA Nepal office has helped more than 400,000 people.
