Lionel Messi gets late-night birthday surprise from Argentina teammates in hotel room

Argentina captain Lionel Messi turned 34 on June 24 and the football legend got a surprise from his teammates late in the night on Thursday.

Messi, who is currently leading Argentina in the CONMEBOL Copa America 2021 tournament in Brazil, was woken up in the middle of the night by his teammates who brought a cake with a candle on it and some gifts for the birthday boy.

Messi took to social media to post the video from his midnight celebrations and thanked his fans for wishing him and making the day special for him.

"Thank you very much for making me spend a special day even though I am not with the family whom I miss a lot right now," Messi wrote on Instagram.
