The Health authorities pointed out the importance of getting the third shot of COVID-19 vaccine as it strengthens one's immunity.

Addressing a news briefing today, Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath said they expect every eligible person gets their booster dose.

"Basically, it gives full protection to every recipient while it also helps prevent virus from spreading to a certain extent," he underlined.

Moreover, Dr. Herath said they cannot assure 100% that Omicron does not spread in the country despite remedial measures.

"However, receiving a third dose will give extra protection from getting complications and succumb to the virus so that the damage could be mitigated," he added. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
