Defending champions Nepal women’s team have reached the final of the Asian Central Zone Volleyball Challenge Cup after registering their fourth consecutive victory on Sunday.

Nepal defeated Uzbekistan in the straight sets of 25-20, 25-23, 25-14 at the Shaheed Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium in Dhaka to qualify for the final with a match in hand. They will play Kyrgyzstan in their final league match on Monday.

The loss meant Uzbekistan suffered their first defeat in the competition but still fancy a chance to advance into the final. They sit in third position with nine points and will face second-placed Sri Lanka, who have 10 points, on Monday. The winners between them will book a title clash against Nepal in Tuesday’s final.

Kyrgyzstan have six points while hosts Bangladesh and the Maldives are winless.

Meanwhile in the men's section, Nepal beat the Maldives 27-25, 25-19, 25-23 in their final league match to notch up their second victory.

The win, which also helped them avenge their group stage loss against the Maldives at home in the 2019, gave Nepal six points after four games and kept alive their hopes of playing in the third-place playoff.
