The Ministry of Health announced yesterday a Covid-19 positive case from the community in Nganglam, Pemagatshel.
However, the task force in the dzongkhag did not impose a blackout or lockdown in the area.
According to the drungkhag Covid-19 task force (DC-19TF) officials, a driver tested positive from the self-containment area and not from the community.
Nganglam drungpa Sherab Zangpo, who is also the incident commander (IC), said a driver who tested Covid-19 positive was transporting cement to Phuentsholing and was operating under self-containment in the designated parking for drivers moving to Phuentsholing.
He said the health team traced nine primary contacts and their samples were sent for the RT-PCR test in Mongar. “All have tested negative so far. All of the primary contacts are drivers operating under self-containment.”
The drungpa said that although the driver was ferrying cement to Phuentsholing from Nganglam, it was difficult for authorities to establish the source of the infection.
Residents, however, claimed the driver might have been infected in Phuentsholing.
Meanwhile, three Covid-19 positive cases have been reported in Nganglam so far.
While the first positive case was detected from a self-containment area on January 20, the second and third cases were reported from the integrated check-post on January 23.
