Nepal reports 158 cases as rapid antigen tests added to daily infection tallies

Nepal on Tuesday reported 92 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 977,076.

Similarly, 66 people tested positive in a total of 2,046 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.

As of Tuesday, 5,426,067 PCR and 1,065,040 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.

A total of 4,458 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.

Two people died from Covid-19-related infections in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry. The countrywide death toll has reached 11,938 since the pandemic began.

According to the ministry, 957,167 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 354 of them in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases stands at 7,971.

Kathmandu Valley recorded 32 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 27 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, five in Lalitpur and none in Bhaktapur.

In the past 24 hours, nine new infections were recorded in Province 1, seven in Madhesh Pradesh, 47 in Bagmati, 17 in Gandaki, six in Lumbini, four in Karnali and two in Sudurpaschim.

According to the data released by the ministry, two districts are home to more than 500 active cases each, other eight districts host more than 200 active cases each.

On Tuesday, 75 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another eight—seven in Bagmati and one in Province 1—were on ventilator support.

Nepal on Monday reported 119 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases and one death. Similarly, 94 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases and one death were recorded on Sunday and 101 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases and two deaths were reported on Saturday.
