The Fort Police has informed the protestors illegally occupying the Galle Face Green and surrounding areas to vacate from their protest sites before 5 pm on Friday (5), the police media unit said.

Police said protesters had established unauthorized constructions and cultivated crops on land at Galle Face that belonging to the Government or Urban Development Authority.

The OIC has also notified the protesters to immediately stop the deprivation of the material rights of the people.

The protesters were also notified to take steps to vacate the area before 5 p.m on August 5 and legal action will be taken against those who do not follow the above instructions, the notice further said.
