The famous Brazilian novelist Paulo Coelho said SRK deserved an oscar award for 'My name is Khan' if Hollywood was not manipulated, and this film should be mandatory in schools everywhere.

Khan was honoured at the San Francisco Film festival for his role in the film, seven years after the release of MNIK, in 2017. My Name Is Khan, is a 2010 social drama film directed by Karan Johar and written by Shibani Bathija and lyricist Niranjan Iyengar. It was subjected to spread awareness about Islam and cover general misconceptions against the religion, which has been commonly associated with terrorism.

It was produced by Hiroo Yash Johar and Gauri Khan under their production companies Image Nation Abu Dhabi, respectively, in association with 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight Pictures, both of which made their Indian film production debuts with the former acting as distributor. The film starts with Shah Rukh Khan as Rizwan Khan, an autistic Muslim, and Kajol as Mandira, his Hindu wife with a son from her previous marriage. Set in the United States, the plot revolves around Rizwan, who faces Islamophobic discrimination after the September 11 attacks.

This discrimination between Hindu and Muslim background in western world leads to the murder of his stepson, killed in a racist fight against fellow collegians. His wife, Mandira, Sameer's mother, blames Rizwan and his religion for the death, and he consequently sets out on a journey to meet president of the country and absolve himself.


The film was produced on the amount US $ 6.3( Rs. 50 crore) and the film collected US$ 28 million (Rs. 223 crore) from box office and the movie has 7.9 Imbd out of 10.
