A young boy died on early Monday, after falling from the fifth floor of a building in Henveiru district of Male’ City.

The police said in a statement that the incident was reported to authorities at around 12:20 am Monday.

The boy, identified by the police as a four-year-old, was rushed to the ADK Hospital.

He died at the hospital, said the police.

The police did not disclose any further details regarding the case.

ADK Hospital’s managing director Ahmed Afaal told Sun that the boy was taken to the hospital at 12:22 am. He said that the boy was believed to have been already deceased when taken to the hospital.

He was declared dead at 01:57 am.

The case is under investigation by the police.

Though rare, Male’ City has seen incidents where people have fallen to their deaths from buildings, most commonly from balconies and air shafts.
