Nepalese team after winning the cup in TU cricket ground
Nepal has been qualified for Asia Cup finally after achieving victory over United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 7 Wickets in the final of the ACC Men’s Premier Cup held in Kathmandu in May 2, today.
The finals of May 1 between Nepal and UAE was suspended to May 2 after rain interrupted in between the ongoing match. Today, Nepal achieved the small target of 118 runs for victory against UAE by losing 3 wickets in 30.3 overs.
For the first time since 2002, Nepal has managed to qualify for the Asia Cup. Nepal will join India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup final scheduled for September in Pakistan. The six-team Asia Cup comprises Nepal, India and Pakistan in Group A whereas, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are in Group B.
Nepal's leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has been declared the best player of the ACC Premier Cup tournament. In this tournament, Sandeep took 13 wickets in five matches.
Oman's Vilal Khan who was announced to be the best bowler of the tournament took 17 wickets. Likewise, UAE's Vritya Aravind emerged as the best batsman by scoring 454 runs throughout the tournament.
