The 16th Chinese Bridge -Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students was organized in Yinghua School, Lalitpur on 10th of June with a theme "Pursue Dreams in Chinese, Live up to Your Youth".

It is hosted by Hanban of China and has been held annually since 2002. It is an inter-school Chinese language speech competition in between the students learning Chinese language who competed representing different schools around Nepal. The winner will go to China for ''Global Finals''. Participants were all non-chinese, born and raised in Nepal whose mother tounge was not Chinese.

Honourable Wang Xin, Deputy Chief of Chinese Embassy to Nepal, in his speech as a Chief Guest said, ''Chinese language is not only a tool for communication but also a bridge for communication. Let us make a good use of this communication tool and build this bridge of communication between the people of China and Nepal''.
Li Shuang Chen, Director of Confucius Institute at Tribhuwan University and Director of Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University, Halishi also showed their presence in the event.
The programme was attended by many Nepalese and Chinese tutors of Chinese language. Whole program was divided into two rounds; preliminary and final round. In the preliminary round students had to submit their video of speech which outlisted 6 students for this competition. Whereas, the final round included three levels.

In the first round, comeptitiors of different age group, basically from 15-20 years old participated and entertained the audience with their best of the speeches and strong presentation in Chinese language.
The competitors were also put into second level of testification by asking questions at the end of their performance regarding general knowledge of Chinese culture.
In the third level, the students presented any of their other talents like: Chinese poem recitation, dancing, calligraphy, etc.

Krishav Panta, a student from L.R.I. Language School, won the first place in the competition through his confident and exuberant performance as the results to the program was instantly announced by evaluating students at the same hour. Mr. Panta was provided with the certificate and prize issued by organising committee. He will be heading to China in August or September of 2023 for the "Global Finals" of "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Language Competition for world middle school students. The second place winners were provided with certificates and even prized by organising committee.
