Nepal Tourism Board today conducted a press conference officially announcing about the China-Nepal Dragon Boat Race Festival is to be held in Pokhara, the 7th largest city and famous tourist destination of Nepal, on June 23 and June 24.
The event was formalized through an official agreement between Nepal's Tourism Board, Embassy of People's Republic of China and Pokhara Metropolitan City on May 4, 2033.
Though the event has already been conducted in more than 50 nations around the world, Nepal stands as the first nation in South Asia to conduct this program. So, this event is expected to enhance and improve the visibility of Nepal around the world.

Dhananjay Raj Regmi, CEO of Nepal Tourism board imparts that the board is thinking of making this international sports not a single time activity but a program that will be conducted in a yearly basis.
Mr. Regmi also informs, "Since the tourism sector of Nepal will slow down this June and the program will be held at the beginning of the rainy season, it is expected that there will be significant support in the tourism sector in Nepal". This signals the contribution of the program for Nepalese Tourism sector and enhancement of people to people relationship.

Expressing his gratitude to Nepal Tourism Board and Pokhara Metropolitan City, Wang Xin, Deputy Chief of Chinese Embassy expresses that, "Dragon Boat Race combined both entertainment and competitiveness representing the spirit of unity in times of difficulty and collective progress". Mr. Xin believes that this will enhance engraved bilateral exchanges, renew everlasting friendship, and enhance mutual trust between two people of both countries.
Program highlights include a mega outdoor inauguration ceremony of the race that will have 8 teams participating for 200 meters and 500 m on Phewa lake from Nepal, China and Singapore followed by cultural performances and food exhibition from both countries.
