Statistics released by the Tourism Ministry show that tourist arrivals to the Maldives have now surpassed 1.7 million.
As per the latest stats released by the ministry, Maldives has seen the arrival of 1,703,204 tourists as of Sunday. This is a 12.9 percent increase from the 1,508,307 arrivals recorded during the same period last year.
Maldives is currently seeing an average of 5,099 tourist arrivals daily.
Russia remains the top tourist market to the Maldives with 193,269 arrivals – making for 11.3 percent of the market share. India is in second place with 185,987 arrivals – making for 10.9 percent of the market share. China trails close behind with 176,803 arrivals – making for 10.4 percent of the market share.

According to Tourism Ministry, there are 63,644 beds in operation at the moment, registered to 1,261 tourist establishments.
Maldives, which was recently crowned the World’s Leading Destination for the fourth year running at the 2023 World Travel Awards, had initially targeted 1.8 tourist arrivals for this year, but later revised the figure to 1.9 million – which will be the highest number of tourists recorded in the country’s history.
The country had recorded its highest tourist arrivals in 2019, with 1.7 visitors.
