Kansas Jayhawks centre Taiyanna Jackson has won her first Big 12 Player of the Week award of the season, marking her third win at Kansas University (KU).

The women's basketball star's performance against the Brigham Young University (BYU) Cougars was a major deciding factor in her win, Kansan reported.

While playing against Cougars senior forward Lauren Gustin, the top rebounder in the country, she grabbed a career-high 22 rebounds. Jackson became the first KU basketball player to have a 20-point/20 rebound game since 2015, as she scored 25 points in the 67-53 victory.

In addition, Jackson recorded her 36th career double-double on Wednesday, hitting 10 or more figures in two different statistical categories.

It is the third-highest record in Kansas women's basketball history, a feat not seen since Vickie Adkins, a forward for KU from 1983 to 1986.

In the 81-74 victory over the Horned Frogs of Texas Christian University (TCU), on February 4, Jackson added 20 points and nine rebounds to cap off the historic performance.

The Kansas team, led by the Big 12 Player of the Week, will go into their home game against Houston on Thursday night riding a two-game winning streak.
