Bhairahawa, Apr. 7: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that Nepal could be made the global capital of spirituality by launching campaigns for yoga and meditation.

Speaking at a programme organised on the occasion of Birat Chakra Bigyan and Lumbini Spiritual Awakening Ceremony in Lumbini on Saturday, Prime Minister Prachanda pointed on the need of another revolution to transform each citizen's life.

He said despite successful political restructuring, there was a need for spiritual transformation in the country. He said, "In the past, I have expressed a feeling to transform like King Ashoka, which was the voice of my inner self. I feel the need for spiritual transformation from within."

Prime Minister Prachanda said that one could be made a strong, peaceful, loving and energetic citizen through complete transformation. He said, "For such a transformation, it is essential not to adopt the form of any old-fashioned religious state, but rather to be a benevolent spiritual state ensuring lasting peace, good governance and stability. The campaign initiated from Lumbini is leading the whole nation towards it."

He said that such transformation could be achieved only through spiritual transformation by keeping individuals’ talent and capability above any religion, society, caste and class. He said that Nepal could be developed as the global capital of spirituality and a centre for spiritual tourism for overall benefit of the country and its citizen by embracing a scientific spiritual system and developing country's health, agriculture, economy, security, commerce and international relations.

Prime Minister Prachanda said that a belief that one can achieve something in one’s own country should be established by eliminating frustration seen among youths of the country. He said, "We need to awaken hope and confidence that something can and should be done in the country by promptly correcting the problems such as distrust, fierce disappointment and negativity among the young generation."

On the occasion, Former Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal said that the campaign should be conducted on a global scale. He said that many were attracted towards life sciences as they could transform one's life.

CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel, CPN (Maoist Centre) Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Lumbini Province Chief Amik Sherchan, Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Rajendra Lingden, Gandaki Province Chief Minister Surendra Pandey and others were present at the programme.

Approximately 5,300 people from 15 countries, including Nepal, participated in the seven-day Birat Chakra Bigyan programme organised in a Lumbini-based international meditation centre.
