Anya Taylor-Joy has disclosed that a 15-minute action sequence in her upcoming film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga required a staggering 76 days of filming. 

The 28-year-old actress, who portrays the younger Furiosa in the movie set between 15 and 20 years prior to the events of Fury Road, discussed the intense filming process for the highly anticipated flick.

She leads the cast in the latest installment of the Mad Max franchise, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday. 

The film includes an epic scene featuring the star and her younger self, portrayed by Alyla Browne.

During an appearance on The One Show on Thursday alongside co-star Chris Hemsworth, Anya provided insight into the challenges of filming such an extensive scene. 

"We shot it for 78 days, 78 days!" Anya exclaimed. "Yes. It's called Stowaway. It was 100 per cent the mountain we were all trying to climb."

Anya elaborated that the scene, due to its enormity, had its own unit directed by Guy Norton, a stuntman in the original Mad Max. 

"It was wild! It was so much fun but really interesting because it all took place on the war rig, so I had it very mapped out in my head like Okay I've got a month and a half underneath the rig, a month on the side," she shared.

Describing her experience upon finally entering the cabin next to Tom Burke, she recalled, "He handed me a sandwich and was like Well done, you've made it and I was like Thank you."

When asked by Roman about maintaining intensity throughout the lengthy shoot, Anya emphasized the immersive nature of the Mad Max world, which fosters excitement and energy among its cast. 

"The Mad Max world kind of encourages people that want to have an experience like this and because we're all coming to work also as fans, that gives you this added energy and excitement because you just want to do the best that you can by the franchise," she explained.

Regarding concerns about portraying a lead character with minimal dialogue, the actress expressed confidence in the character's silence, stating, "You know what’s crazy is I was never concerned about the lack of dialogue as you said, it made a lot of sense for the character so I was like Yeah yeah I've got this."

She further elaborated on director George Miller's specific vision for her character's expression, emphasizing the intensity it brought to the role. 

Lead actor Chris Hemsworth, who plays Doctor Dementus, nodded in agreement, acknowledging the depth added by the character's silent resilience amidst adversity.
