SATV KATHMANDU, Nov 22: Electricity generated by the 111 MW Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project has been connected to the national grid, starting Thursday.

Electricity supply from the project is expected to give some respite to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to maintain power supply during winter. According to the NEA, the electricity production of the project will however fall to one-third of the total capacity in winter.

Earlier, the Rasuwagadhi project was scheduled to be completed on February 19, 2020. After the project construction was adversely affected by multiple reasons including 2015 earthquake, floods and COVID-19, the deadline of the project was extended time and again.

Chilime Hydropower Company Limited owns 32.79% of the project's shares, followed by 19.5% owned by the general public, 18% by the NEA, 15% by local residents of Rasuwa, and 10% by employees of the lending institution.
