SATV 3 April, Kathmandu: Deepak Acharya, the Chief Administrative Officer of Barbardiya Municipality, has been arrested.

He was arrested from Barbardiya Municipality on Wednesday evening and brought to the District Police Office, according to the police.

He was accused of behaving indecently towards Mayor Chhabilal Tharu and Deputy Mayor Ratna Kumari Pandey inside the office during office hours on Tuesday after consuming alcohol.

"The arrest was made after a team led by Barbardiya Municipality Mayor Chhabilal Tharu filed a case of indecent behavior against Chief Administrative Officer Acharya at the District Police Office, Bardiya," said Kedar Khanal, Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Bardiya.

Achraya was arrested by Area Police Office on Tuesday in the offense of behaving indecently and even trying to physically assault Deputy Mayor Ratna Kumari Pandey in her work office after being intoxicated. He was later released on bail.

Mayor of was made Chabi Lal Tharu said that decent behavior along with an attempt to assault was made to the deputy mayor Pandey by Acharya after being intoxicated in office hours. A case has been filed against him for indecent behavior.

The police, however, stated that a case was not registered on Wednesday due to non-office hours abut that Chief Administrative Officer Acharya was detained.

Acharya, on the other hand, has written on social media, accusing the mayor of calling the police because of not getting a commission of Rs 500,000 on purchase of a power tiller.
