SATV, Kathmandu, May 19 | Kathmandu is set to host one of the largest international mountaineering gatherings of the year as Everest Alliance Nepal announces the second edition of the Everest Summiteers Summit 2026.

Scheduled for May 27 in Kathmandu, the summit will be organized under the theme “Himalayan Innovation for a Sustainable Future” .

According to the organizers, the event will bring together 176 Everest summiteers from 26 countries, making it one of the most diverse global gatherings of Everest climbers this year. Nepal Tourism Board will serve as the co-organizer of the summit.

The summit follows the successful inaugural edition held in 2025 under the theme “Honoring the Legends, Inspiring the Future.” The first event attracted more than 150 Everest summiteers along with over 300 participants, including government officials, mountaineering organizations, conservation experts, tourism stakeholders, sponsors, institutional leaders, and media representatives.

Organizers said the first summit helped strengthen international collaboration and policy-level discussions related to mountain conservation and sustainable tourism while reinforcing Nepal’s role in global mountain stewardship.

This year’s summit will focus on a range of key issues including mountaineering legacy, women in mountaineering, climber safety, climate change, sustainable tourism, climate finance, waste management, and the future of Himalayan expeditions.

The event will feature keynote sessions, panel discussions, and policy dialogues led by Everest summiteers, national and international experts, and institutional leaders. Organizers believe the summit will promote meaningful cooperation and collective action for the protection and sustainable development of high-altitude regions.

Everest Alliance Nepal stated that the summit symbolizes human resilience, global cooperation, and respect for nature, while also strengthening Nepal’s position as a global hub for mountain dialogue and Himalayan innovation.
