Tamang wins snooker title

SATV, Kathmandu, Aug. 9: Sabin Tamang claimed the title at the inaugural Kathmandu Khelmandal (NRT) Nepal Top‑16 Grand Masters Snooker Championship on Saturday.

He comfortably defeated Rohit Kshetri 6–1 in the final, held at the NRT clubhouse in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu. 

In the best‑of‑eleven frames, Tamang prevailed 59–32, 1–70, 73–52, 59–41, 74–22, 68–13 and 67–17. This was Tamang’s third victory over Kshetri, who suffered his second successive defeat in a final. In the previous Nepal Masters Snooker Championship, Kshetri had lost to Som Lama.

As champion, Tamang received a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 111,111. Runner‑up Kshetri collected Rs 51,000 and a trophy, while semi‑finalists Wangchyu Tamang and Rajan Gurung were each awarded Rs 25,000 and a trophy.

The tournament, which began on 28 July, was organised by NRT, one of the nation’s oldest clubs.
