SATV, Kathmandu, Sept. 5: President Ramchandra Paudel visited the historic Shree Krishna Temple in Patan on Friday to pay homage on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami.

Following the worship rituals, President Paudel received flowers and Prasad from the temple priest.

Devotees gathered at Krishna temples across Patan from early Friday morning to celebrate Krishna Janmashtami, the festival marking the birth of Lord Krishna.

Large numbers of devotees visited temples to offer prayers, perform worship rituals, present flowers and seek blessings. The temples and surrounding areas remained crowded as devotees observed the festival with religious enthusiasm. According to Hindu tradition, Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated on the eighth day of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhadra of the Nepali Calendar. Devotees believe that Lord Krishna, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born on this auspicious day during the Dvapara Yuga.

Special arrangements were made at major temples to manage the crowds and facilitate worship. Separate queues were arranged for devotees, while drinking water and basic healthcare services were also provided.

The festival was celebrated across Patan with religious rituals, bhajans and prayers. The famous Krishna Temple in Mangalbazar, Hanumandhoka premises and other Krishna temples remained overflowing with devotees throughout the day.
