Pakistan Academy of Letters publishes collection of Nepali representatives poems in Urdu

KATHMANDU, Jan 10: Pakistan Academy of Letters, Islamabad has published a collection of representative poems of Nepali poets in Urdu, the national language of Pakistan, under the name "The Voice of Nepali Poets".

Representative literary works of Dharanidhar Koirala (Nepal), Mahananda Sapkota (Ava), Lekhnath Poudel (Pinjada  Ko Suga), Gopal Prasad Rimal (Aama Ko Sapana), Siddhicharan Shrestha (Aafno Parichaya), Bhawani Bhiksu (Dukhako Katha), Kedar Man Vyathit (Changa), Madhav Prasad Ghimire (Kali Gandaki), Vijay Malla (Chorilai Naksha Padhauda), Bhim Nidhi Tiwari (Jaga Asia Jaga), Mohan Koirala (Sarangi), Jagdish Shumsher Rana (Keti Sahar Janche) and Parijat (Bar Ko Rukh) have been translated and published under “The Voice of Nepali Poets”. 

The works of Bhupi Sherchan (Mainbatti Ko Sikha), Ishwar Ballabh (Krur Bichar Ko Katha), Basu Shashi (Euta Yesto Phool Chahiye Ko Cha), Dwarika Lal Shrestha (Ye Aakha Le Khojeka), Bairagi Kainla (Bibahit Mahila  Kamdaar Ko Diary), Ratna Shumsher Thapa (Ek Anyahin Yatra), Krishna Bhakta Shrestha (Mero Pidhi), Tulsi Diwas (Baleko Diyoko Tel), Kali Prasad Rijal (Mero Ichhya), Haribhakta Katuwal (Yo Jindagi Khai K Jindagi), Upendra Shrestha (Adhyaro Ra Ujyalo Ko Katha), Bhawani Ghimire (Asal Bichar), Kundan Sharma (Euta Lamo Bato), Madan Regmi (Timi Samundra Ko Najik Ra Tadha), Bimal Koirala (Phal Muntiya), SP Koirala (Suruwat), Hari Adhikari (Adhikarko Puja) and Purushottam Subedi (Ladhaiko Pakshyama) are also among those included in the poem anthology.

The works of Byakul Maila (Kathmandu Ma Hune Paribartan), Dinesh Adhikari (Jaati), Navraj Lamsal (Harsal Ko Ek Uchha Halla Khalla),  and Momila (Aafno Rastriya Maun Aawazma) have also been translated into Urdu language by Zia-ul-Mustafa Turk, Syed Kashif Raza, and Munir Fayyaz. The translation of this collection of poetry of 385 pages contains the poems of Nepali poets written in the last 100 years.

By publishing the works of poets of Nepal in the national language of Pakistan, the works and identity of Nepali writers will expand and Pakistani writers will get an opportunity to taste Nepali literature. The Embassy of Nepal in Islamabad facilitated the translation and publication of these poems, according to Nepal’s Ambassador to Pakistan Tapas Adhikari.
