The voting for second highest post of the nation, Vice-President is ongoing today in Federal Parliament Building, Baneshwor. The election started for third vice-president of nation has started from 10:00 am and will be finished by 3:00 pm.  

Astalaxmi Shakya (Bohara) of the CPN (UML), Mamata Jha of theJanamat Sangraha Party and Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav of the Janata Samajbadi Party(Ja.Sa.Pa.)are the candidates for the vice-presidential election. There are 332 voters ofthe Federal Parliament and 550 voters of the PA in the election.

Rastriya Swatantra Party Janamat Party for being new parties have decided to vote for Mamta Jha, candidate of Janamat Party in thevice-presidential election.

The election of the Vice President is held based ona weighted voting system, with an electoral college of 884 federal andprovincial lawmakers in total.

The vote cast by a member of both upper and lower houses will have a weightage of 79, whereas it is 48 for a vote cast by a member of the provincial assembly.
