The last hunting tourism of this year has started in Dhorpatan hunting reserve Baglung, the only hunting tourism area of Nepal.
Foreign tourists have reached Sikar block by helicopter to play Sikar. In the second yam of this year, 12 Naurs and nine Jharals will be hunted.
Seven companies selected through the bidding process will allow professional foreign hunters to hunt in the reserve. Birendra Kandel, chief conservation officer of Dhorpatan hunting reserve, said that hunters from seven companies from eight countries are going to hunt for the second yam of this year (February-Waisakh).
Nepal Wildlife Adventures, Safari Outfitters from Kathmandu, USA hunters will hunt 1 naur in Fagune and 1 Jharal, Sri Himalayan Wildlife Outfitters, USA hunters from Kathmandu will hunt 1 naur in Barse. Similarly, Shree Tax N Trails Pvt. Ltd. Canadian hunters from Kathmandu will hunt 1 Naur and 1 Jharal in Ghustung.Shree Global Safaris Nepal Pvt. Ltd. From Kathmandu, hunters from Hungary got permission to hunt 1 naur and 1 jharal in Gustung (Rukum East) and hunters from France got permission to hunt 1 naur and 1 jharal in Sundah (Rukum East).
Sriopen Nepal Wildlife Safari and Treks Pvt. Ltd. 1 Naur in Sundah from Kathmandu, Sri Nepal Travel Expeditions Pvt. Ltd. From Lalitpur, Polyad hunters got 1 naur in Dogadi, Russian hunters got 1 naur in Dogadi and 1 jharal in Ghustung, Spanish hunters got 1 naur in Warsaw and 1 jharal in Gustung and Shree Himalayan Recommendations Pvt. Three American hunters are going to hunt from Kathmandu.
They hunted 1 Naur in Dogadi and 1 Jharal in Seng, 1 Naur in Seng and 1 Jharal in Sundah, 1 Naur in Dogadi and 1 Jharal in Gustung, said officer Kandel.
Officer Kandel said that two hunters had come to Dhorpatan to hunt. Sriopen Nepal Wildlife Safari and Treks Pvt. Ltd. Other hunters keep coming.
Last month (February), the department had called for sealed bids from companies that had obtained professional hunting licenses for hunting. This time the poachers paid Rs 520,000 to Rs 780,000 for one Naur and Rs 300,000 to Rs 300,000 for Jharal, informed Kandel.
In the previous (first) yam (August-November), a revenue of 20 lakh five thousand rupees and 6 lakh rupees of jharal was paid. When the demand for hunting is high, the rate of revenue also increases and when the demand decreases, the revenue also decreases. In the first season of this year, although the hunting quota of eight naur and six jharal was determined, only seven naur and five jharal were hunted.
