Some 10 unnamed individuals have also been sued under the DSA case

A case has been filed against four individuals, including Canadian and US expatriates, for making derogatory remarks on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Law Minister Anisul Huq, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and several other Awami League leaders.

Tushar Kanti Mandal, former general secretary of Rangpur Metropolitan Awami League filed the case under the Digital Security Act (DSA) at the Rangpur Cyber Tribunal court on Sunday afternoon.

The case has been filed against Canadian expatriate Mostafizur Rahman Titu from Jigatala area of the capital, US expatriate Nazmus Sakib and Anis Mia from the Sabujbagh area and Ibrahim Ali from Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha and some 10 unknown individuals.

Cyber Tribunal's Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Ruhul Amin Talukdar confirmed the matter. 

He said that Judge Dr Abdul Majid ordered the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to conduct a probe into the case.

According to the case statement, Canadian expatriate Mostafizur Rahman Titu, American expatriate Nazmus Sakib and others have been making indecent remarks and sarcastic comments against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her family on online Nagorik TV at various times. 

This has tarnished Bangladesh's image abroad, the case statement reads.

Tushar Kanti Mandal, the plaintiff, said that the accused have been spreading various defamatory propaganda to harm the country and nation and that he filed the case in the hope of obtaining justice.
